Mayor Bill de Blasio Reappoints Brooklyn Navy Yard President and CEO, David Ehrenberg

At a press conference on Tuesday morning, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that David Ehrenberg has been reappointed as president and CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  Ehrenberg took over the operation of the Yard last year, being appointed  by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.  Before taking up this post, David Ehrenberg was the executive vice president of real estate for the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

According to an article by Dan Geiger in Crain’s New York Business:

“Mr. Ehrenberg will oversee the redevelopment of three large properties at the yard that will bring it to about 5.5 million square feet of space over the next 5 years and 12,000 employees, 70% more than the current number there. He must also wrap up a $300 million deal to have Steiner Studios, the largest tenant at the Navy Yard, expand into a former hospital space at the yard and build an outdoor sound stage that will be the first of its kind in the city.

Among the major expansion projects that Mr. Ehrenberg will oversee is the completion of a green manufacturing center, a former 250,000-square-foot warehouse facility that is undergoing $65 million of renovation work by the city.”
