The Journal News: Starwood rezoning amendment passed

A zoning change for Starwood Capital’s project on the site of the former United Hospital in Port Chester received unanimous approval from the Board of Trustees on Monday, March 6, 2017.  The 15 acre site, purchased in 2006, will include a hotel, restaurants, office space, millenial and senior housing, and acres of public open space.

Marino was brought onto the project in 2014, helping successfully lead the communications effort that led to the approval.

The Journal News’ Gabriel Rom covered the story:

“The project will benefit the village through millions of dollars of needed improvements to our streets and infrastructure,” Mayor Dennis Pilla said.

The development still needs additional approvals. The developer must now submit a site-plan application which the village board would need to vote on.

Starwood says the proposed development would generate $60 million in revenue for the village, contribute approximately $2 million annually to Port Chester schools, and create nearly 3,000 new jobs.

“We are thrilled the Board of Trustees voted Tuesday to approve new zoning that will make it possible to transform the old United Hospital site into a vibrant mixed-use development that will benefit both Port Chester and the surrounding area,” said Starwood spokesman Tom Corsillo. “We look forward to beginning the next phase of this exciting and important project.”
