Fox 5 NY: Comeback of Industry City in Brooklyn

Christal Young of Fox 5 NY recently featured Industry City on her Now & Then segment, highlighting the changes the industrial complex and Sunset Park neighborhood have seen over the years.

Via the article:

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) – Industry City was the brainchild of developer Irving T. Bush. Originally known as “Bush Terminal” the manufacturing center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, opened in the late 1800s. By the early 1900s it was booming.

At its height, 25,000 people worked there, according to CEO Andrew Kimball. But in the 1960s through the 1980s it went into decline.

But now Industry City is back and thriving. Kimball showed me why it is so special. Manufacturing is coming back with the integration of modern technology and art and design.

Blue Marble Ice Cream was one of the first companies to come back to the newly revitalized Industry City. It makes its organic ice cream here and will soon open a retail store.

Tech, design and clothing companies have all caught on, too. Juan Jaramillo owns Retro Marine. He says the newly revamped brand found its perfect home at Industry City.

The first floor of Industry City has a food hall with lots of variety. You can get sweet treats or a tasty sandwich at endless meats. The courtyard is the perfect place to relax with your meal.
